By omitting the bare thread between rings, you curved the simple edging into a trefoil. The simple edging can also be made to curve the other way, and start you on the way to making medallions.

Before I tell you how to make the simple wheel, you'd best read the following discussion of right sides and wrong sides, because I told you to make your two-thread joins backward.
