11:39 - 11:58 home
(I must have written at least one of those times wrong. It can't take seventeen minutes to retrace a five-minute ride. Maybe I stopped to look at the snow dragon in the park.)
12:20 - 12:33 walked around the old-folks home under construction. While looking for elevator shafts, I realized that I also couldn't see where they meant to put the staircases. Three floors of framing are up. Tyvek is over most of it, which makes it easier to see which holes are meant to be permanent. What I took for some sort of utility room at the west end might be a stairwell; must look for clues -- such as absent floors -- tomorrow. (I'm writing this on 12 January 2021.)
12:49 passed by the Old Jail. Steps have not been swept, so I dared not use them. Reflected on disadvantages of being the only user of a public facility.
12:59 arrived at courthouse. Forgot to record time I finished climbing. I suspect that I also forgot to climb the west steps.
13:08 left courthouise area.
13:19 left Rotary Park. As I expected, the drinking fountain is closed for the winter.
13:54 Home.
Saturday is supposed to be snowy, so I'm riding on Wednesday. This will give me a chance to drop off a power supply at the recycling center. I plan to go straight there and sight-see afterward, so I'll have something to do while they eat lunch if they aren't open.
I have a new sight to see: work has begun on changing Gateway School into a housing development. It's going to have a HOA, but some people don't mind that.
Oops, my notebook is in the bedroom.
I got to the recycling center just as they closed for lunch, went to Rotary Park and some of the places on my sight-seeing list, then went to look at the Gateway development because it's on the same street as the recycling center, forgetting that there is a big gap in Union Street that makes it complicated to get from here to there. Couldn't see much at Gateway because of the fences, but dropping the power supply off was no fuss, except that I forgot to pull my mask out of my jersey and put it on. But he was wearing his, and we kept well apart.

Didn't record time of second visit to recyclling center. I toured the Buffalo Street project, then headed out Fort Wayne to Gateway, thinking I could follow Union Street to the recycling center, but Union is not one continuous street.
Then I rode the full length of High street, and back to Market, looking for the house a yahoo drove his car into. They had the hole boarded up and the outside cleaned up except for the deep tire tracks in the muddy soil.
13:04 - 13:10 walking past the old-folks home under construction.
The newly-poured concrete floor under the wing that has the elevator shaft in it connects to the wing that is already three stories high, so I guess one elevator will serve the entire institution. I didn't think to look back at the east end of the building to see whether there were doors in it. On my way in, I had seen a worker troweling concrete where the new floor joined the old one; someone was still troweling out in the middle of the expanse when I walked past on the way home. I didn't think to wonder what he was kneeling on.

Friday looks like a good day to ride to Leesburg, and chicken cordon bleu is on clearance @ 25/$14.99, but might sell out by Friday.
I must re-insulate both panniers, iron my orange niqab, and so forth.
I have slips dating back to February pinned to my monitor stand. I may or may not get around to transcribing them.
Rode to [yawn!] the animal shelter again, varied by going through Sprawlmart and coming back by way of Menards. I was gone about five hours.
Started at 10:51. Got the bungee out from between my rear deraileur and cog and started again at 11:10. Turned around in the village and spent from 11:18 to 11:36 putting on sweat pants and another undershirt.
Sprawl One, 11:54 - 12:22

Shame I didn't record my arrival time at Aldi; it took *forever* to cross Husky Trail. I left at exactly five, arrived at Jimmy-John's 17:15, bought a "Big John", and was too interested in getting the sub on the table to record my departure and arrival.

That leaves one note from March and one from February. I was planning to go to Leesburg on Friday, to buy the stuffed chicken breasts that are still on special, bit twenty-mile winds are predicted.
My pile of little slips broke free of the corsage pin and fell onto the floor, so I decided to frisk them for dollar signs and throw them away. There were dollar signs only on Sat 1 May and Sat 8 May, and those had been stricken off vermillion, meaning that I'd entered them into Quicken -- which says that I have around fifty bucks less than I do, but I can't find a mis-recorded withdrawal.
Sat 27 Feb 2021: seems to have been a trip to the Old Jail and the courthouse to exercise on the steps.
Wed 3 March 2021: the water-haul to Sands Office Supply, with a stop at the Buffalo Street Emporium on the way back. I still don't have huge paper clips.
Friday 26 March 2021: Must be the day I renewed my driver's license.
Friday 2 April 2021: Probably a sprawlmart tour, since Dollar Tree is mentioned. "ATM" is listed twice; I recall finding the one at the bank out of service, then noticing the other when I was leaving Kroger, but there is nothing between eating a chalupa on a wall in Sprawlmart and the ATM. I must have forgetting to note arrival and departure at Kroger, as I finished the chalupa at 1344 and arrived at the ATM at 1457. Took sixteen minutes from the ATM to home.
Tuesday 6 April 2021: Seems to have been a dash to Kroger and back.
Friday 30 April 2021: A trip to Kohl Plaza. Seems to be the day I gave up on buying food at Taco Bell and ate emergency bars in a parking lot on Bell Drive. Two trips to Dollar Tree, the second to buy a bottle of tea because I couldn't refill my water.
Saturday 1 May 2021: First day of Farmers' markets, but game called on account of committee meeting. It would appear that I did make it to the legion hall to buy pork chops, and stopped at Kroger on the way back.
Saturday 8 May 2021: Hit both markets and a whole bunch of garage sales, and got to Lowe's and Walmart too tired to shop for garden-bed frames. Decided to look over the shoes, buy a can of frozen orange juice to cool the kim chee I'd bought at the health-food store, eat a pretzel pizza, and go home. I spent at least half an hour looking into every freezer in the store without finding orange juice, was too upset to be comfortable waiting for a pizza so late in the day, and ate my emergency bars in a parking lot that I noticed, too late, was across Bell Drive from the picnic tables at Zimmer-Biomet.
Ran my phone battery down to 92%. It was 100% when I left, 97% at 15:42, 95% at 16:41, 93% at 17:58, and 92% when I got home at 19:36.
I had lunch (chili cheese fries) at Penguin Point, then bought a tooth brush at the dollar store across the street.
And now for the slip that was still in my notebook:
I had an appointment on Husky Trail at 11:00, and left home at 10:00. This was enough time to go through sprawlmart and avoid the horrible intersection at Parker and US 30, but just barely, so I stayed on McKinley to (I think it was Jefferson), crossed Center on Harrison, followed Fort Wayne to Parker. It wasn't *too* confusing, but I ended up in the right lane on the other side. It wasn't difficult to get into the left- turn lane or make the left turn; traffic was light.
I arrived at 10:25, was locked up and checked in at 10:39. I hope that the cherry trees are a bit taller when I go for next year's skin inspection; I found a twig in my hair when I was putting my hat back on after eating a butterburger at Culver's, and another when I got home. And I hadn't taken my scarf off yet when I was locking up.
Most of the time was spent selecting a tree -- I absent-mindedly tried the tree beside the optical shop next door first. I was inspected, re-dressed, and ready to roll at 11:55. I went to Culver's first, by way of Mariner Point Drive, which enters the roundabout at a better angle than Husky Trail does when you are southbound.
Then I crossed Parker Street on foot, as getting to the other side in a vehicle is a roundabout route consisting almost entirely of left turns. The builders thoughtfully made the curb between the inbound and outbound lanes as wide as a sidewalk, but an outbound hole came along at just the right time, so I didn't need to use it.
I was in Aldi from 12:29 to 13:42. I saw Linda twice, but we only smiled at one another. (You *can* see a smile on a masked face, if the smiler means it.)
A noticeable part of the time at Aldi was spent making the things I'd bought fit into my panniers.
I got home at 14:05 -- twenty-three minutes for the trip. And just twenty-five for the trip to Forefront Dermatology, even though it's farther; I must have waited a shorter time for the light coming in, and I had almost no waiting time for the left turn onto Husky Trail. Coming back, there was some delay in turning right onto Husky from Aldi.
Gone 10:25 - 15:47
Our Father's House to drop shirts & a cell phone case, fairgrounds market, courthouse market, Buffalo Street Emporium (binder clips), backtrack to Warsaw Health Foods (candy and sesame sticks), Subway (12-inch cold cuts sub, six inches put on ice so I didn't have to cook for Dave at supper), Open Air (thyme and marjoram), Kroger (milk and stuff), home.
Leaving the house again tomorrow. Pretty much the same plan as last Saturday.
Tried to make a map of my stops. Google Maps vigorously malfunctioned after I'd input scads and scads of very fussy data.
So I was very nervous about trying to make another map, and left off many of the garage sales. I was still out long enough to get good and tired; I got back to Winona Lake just in time --well not *too* much late-- to buy a Saturday Special at Sweet Dreams for out supper.
The next time I use Google Maps, I'll save a screen shot of the destination column at intervals.
By the time I got to Kroger, I had so much stuff in my panniers, and I was so late, that I just dashed in to grab milk, buttermilk, and eggs. It took a lot of re-arranging to get everything it. Didn't help that I'd bought

13:28 - 13:43 Reading map while seated on concrete thing in front of gravel pit. Decided not to ride two extra miles to avoid half a mile more gravel road. This stretch of 300 N is definitely worth avoiding -- but it had been well over a year since I'd checked for myself.
It was windy; I had to chase down the newspaper sleeve that I use for a map case.
14:17 - 15:21 Walmart. Pizza was excellent; didn't see any suitable shoes.
15:38 - 15:29 Meijer. Couldn't find pants hangers. They were out of most frozen fruit juice. Plenty of orange, but no "no pulp" (which was, of course, everywhere until I wanted some). I settled for a can of apple-raspberry, which was still solid when I got home, so I put it into the freezer. It was coated with ice, so it must have done my cooler some good. Note: at 85°, two bags of ice are not enough. But there was enough melted ice to make up for the water fountains at Walmart being out of order.
17:00 - 17:19 Bomy Singh. I rode home at fast as I could and the food was still hot, so I put it on the table (and stripped off my sweaty clothes) instead of thinking about taking notes.
I bought cinnamon rolls at the fairgrounds market. At the courthouse, I bought peanut-butter cookies (because that flavor was in a bag instead of on a plate) and ate one before continuing. I bought four spools of thread ($2) at the Penny Road garage sale. They came in a bag with seven spools of darning cotton and a snack bag of buttons.
Nine minutes to go from Mile Zero to Mile One, eleven minutes to go from Mile One to Mile One Point Nine.
Maybe I fiddled around a bit before looking at my watch; it was perfectly flat all the way, and I don't remember stopping to look at anything. Except my watch; it was hard to find a patch of shade to read it in.
Whatever, that was over six and a half miles per hour just lollygagging along.
Pity I didn't record the time from Bomy to home, when I was working at it (but also avoiding the art-fair traffic). I'll have to measure the distance from Meijer to Bomy, when I did sprint now and again -- but had a long walk when I got onto Winona Avenue too soon. That was one hour and thirty-one minutes.
⁂
Google Maps says that a reasonable approximation of the way I went is 3.2 miles. An hour and a half for that isn't all that fast.
Just wandered around Warsaw for a few hours. I bought some turnips at the fairgrounds market. The greens on them were not in very good condition when I got home.

The only day this week I could ride, so I went to Walmart and Meijer in search of pants hangers. Neither had them. I got hot and the day got late, so I skipped the loop that was supposed to bring it to twenty miles. 12:23 - 12:28 Changed shoes. I'm sure there was a bench near that grill the previous time I changed shoes on my way out of Central Park. Sitting on the grass worked.
13:36 - 13:56 Gazebo. Lots of dirt on the floor. After writing a text that mysteriously disappeared, then mysteriously re-appeared when I answered another text later on, I swept the cleaner half of the floor with a crumpled plastic bag, then a car pulled up and a family got out to enjoy the gazebo, so I went on without doing my back exercises. Just now thought that it would have been a good idea to do them at Meijer's.
14:02 - 15:09 Walmart. Had a "pocket" for lunch.
15:11 Arrived at TJ Max. Went into every store; found ivory-colored knee socks at Shoe Sensation.
Left Pet Smart at 16:14; Left Kohls (and the plaza) at 17:09.
17:40 -18:57 Meijer.
18:57 - 19:23 Ate a pasta salad while sitting under a tree behind the hitching rack at Meijer. Alas, I was two bites from finishing and very uncomfortable before it entered my thick head that I was under no obligation to eat the entire thing. So I didn't sprint on Sunset, as I normally would.
20:03 Home.

I stood up to the heat quite well, but soon after I got home, sweat started running into my eyes. I don't think my do-rag had been stopping it, since I wear it pulled up in the middle, above the sweaty forehead.
Stomach started issuing subtle hints on the way home; eating salty snack sticks shut it up.
I didn't take any switchel, but I did put pickle juice mixed with fruit juice into my tea.
My stomach demanded a salty meat stick early in the ride, and I worried that four wouldn't be enough, but I brought the other three home.
10:00 depart

15:49 saw sign saying Barbara (Frazier?) Bike Trail. There is a walkway circling the playground; can't find anything on Google Maps or Duck-Duck-Go
15:58 left pit stop at Samuel Long Playground. Also can't find that on Maps or DDG I was delighted to find the restroom still there.
16:08 - 16:43 Pierceton
16:29 - 16:38 Sunoco - Picnic table gone,
16:43 - 16:55 took pizza puff to Arnolt Road to eat it.
17:03 crossed 30 onto Van Ness
17:16 passed through Wooster
17:53 - 18:15 Sweet Dreams (panini)
18:24 home
Pleasant day; not too tired, but I felt the missed nap when the tea wore off, and didn't feel like crossing 30 twice to come home through Sprawlmart.

10:51 leave home
11:04 - 11:14 Our Father's House
11:04 home again.
Where I got into the truck with my helmet on.
When Dave asked whether driving the truck home would mess up my ride, I said "No; I don't have appointments any of the places I plan to go."
But once in the truck, I decided to come back by Husky Trail and strike a few things off my shopping list at Aldi. All that practice in packing my panniers paid off when I put a hundred dollars worth of groceries into the footwell of the Taco. I did put one bag into the bed of the truck -- and all of the seltzer, of course.
Then instead of drinking my tea and continuing the ride, I went to bed and slept like a rock all afternoon.
10:50 depart
11:01 - 11:11 Our Father's House
11:38 depart recycling center
11:57 - 12:06 McElroy Hill
(Did it really take only nine minutes to walk up the hill?)
12:15 - 12:27 Gazebo (did exercises)
12:40 - 13:57 Walmart (lunch)
(The front restrooms were "being cleaned" all day {with caution tape?} so I got more walking in than expected. Also the handicap booth in the back Ladies was out of order. Walmart seems to have a lot of plumbing problems.)
14:05 - 15:07 PetSmart. (Takes a while to select fifty-six different cans of cat food. I still {14 September 2021} haven't sorted them into piles, but I opened the last can of the old batch today.)
15:40 - 16:00 Dollar Tree (Bought a bottle of caffienated fruit juice. Dave liked it. I should have bought more, as I'll never see it again.)

10:36 - 10:46 courthouse farmers' market
11:11 - ??:?? Our Father's House
passed through Octoberfest and bought some celery seed
12:25 home
In the evening, I rode the flatfoot to Octoberfest, didn't find any food booths, passed a beer festival that was still going strong, bought pork barbecue at Sweet Dreams.
Sprawlmart Tour, not very satisfactory. But I did notice that Dollar Tree's "poster board" would make good pattern paper, and now I need stiff pattern paper.

9:49 - 10:13 Farmers' Market
10:28 - 10:27 Our Father's House (that's what it says on the note! Perhaps I misrad 10:23.)

16:10 finished locking ramp-room door
16:18 home
Got home and crashed. The next day's sermon said that the festival was a success.

?? Home
Left at 12:08. This is an all-day ride?
12:22 - 12:27 ATM. I didn't get much farther up Chestnut before I had to walk than I get on my wheelchair bike. Could be that I didn't want to strain myself at the beginning of a long ride, but more likely it's a sign that I haven't been working enough.
12:41: arrived at shoe store in Sprawl One.
13:02 - 13:19 Dollar General in Sprawl Two.
13:42 - 14:03 lunch at Marathon station. I shall do this again.
14:09 -15:04 RP Home and Harvest. Pit stop, had keys made.
??:?? -15:23 Dollar Tree. Bought some light cover stock labeled "poster board" to make patterns with.
I skipped the restaurant-supply store in the interest of getting home before dark -- then chickened out at Tractor Supply and came straight home.
15:41 - 15:47 Animal Welfare League. Al rejected rather a lot of food since my last trip.
15:51 -15:58 Tractor Supply. It was getting cold and I hadn't brought my windbreaker. Did have gloves to put on, and got almost sweaty riding home.

10:13 arrive ATM on Chestnut Street

10:53 - 11:08 Library. Returned two books, made pit stop. Did not look at books because I have two unread Asaros.
<11:56 - 12:02 Family Express, pizza, no pit stop.
12:15 - 12:20 Gazebo. Too wet to rest; sent text.
12:36 - 14:16 PetSmart. Got too tired from standing still to see straight; made pit stop, fetched in bottle, lay down in aisle and did full set of back exercises. Much to my surprise, nobody interrupted me. Selected 49 items: Three bags.
14:35 left Shoe Sensation with a new pair of black sandals suitable (with black hose) for church. Appear to be quite comfortable to walk in.
14:45 - 15:00 pit stop at Walmart, followe by dash to
15:55 arrive Penguin Point. Once I got my chicken, I dashed home and ate it without taking further notes.
Note: the next time I pass Fort Wayne School at let-out time, take Sherman instead of Clarke. Traffic was bumper to bumper. They should have a large parking lot about half a mile from the school, or four small ones, and block all motorized traffic on streets contiguous to the school during drop off and pick up times.
12:19 depart
12:39 - 13:35 Kroger

12:39 - 13:07 Auto Zone
13:18 - ?? Kroger
14:32 Home
I bought four hose clamps
Starting late, and having to dash at three to be sure of getting home by five, I dared not plan a long ride -- just a dash to Lowe's, interrupted only by picking up my pills, lunch at Freedom Express, and a rest at the Tippy Downs gazebo. I stopped to pick up supper on the way back, having established that I had an hour to spare. Pity I didn't check my watch before deciding not to stop at a variety store that I hadn't noticed before. It's across McKinley from Kroger, in or near the building that used to be a religious bookshop.
I had to get off and walk halfway up the slope from 30 to Madison School! I've *never* needed to do that before. I guess I really, really needed the exercise.
