I doubt that I will ever buy a whole bolt of fabric and make a minimal wardrobe for travelling in which every piece matches every other piece, but I like to think about it.
For the wardrobe -- which has been simmering for several decades now -- I'd like a calf-length skirt, just long enough that I can wear knee socks -- and a matching pair of drawers made from the pattern I made for my linen drawers, in case it hikes up when I sit down carelessly. The ruffle created by the drawstring covers the tops of most knee socks. And if it doesn't, I can add an edging.
A matching blouse that can also be worn with black slacks -- or two, one with short sleeves and one with long sleeves. A dress that can be worn under the skirt. Trousers that can be worn under the dress, to obviate panty hose. (And with the two blouses.)
I'd need a bolt of cotton print and a bolt of solid pant weight. Perhaps cotton print on a dark background and linen print on white?
Make the pant weight fabric linen twill. I've never seen any, but this isn't going to happen anyway. And another pant weight in washable wool. H2O flannel would do nicely; it's been extinct for decades and my surviving scarf is holding up nicely despite having been run through a snow blower.
A solid fabric to match the background of each print, plus one to match the print.
Since I don't have to actually find this stuff, we shall make the colors of the two prints match each other.
