L---P----1----+----2----+----3----+@10-4----T----R Men's underwear The male is apt to be quite happy with store-bought underwear, and male underwear is usually made of fabric that a factory can handle much more easily and cheaply than you can, but boxer shorts are easy to make, and some of the men who prefer boxer shorts adore the sort of loud pattern that is particularly likely to be left over and sold cheaply -- you might be able to make him silk shorts for less than he is paying for polyester. If he is inclined to sleep or lounge in his long-handled underwear, you can make him a pair of pajamas designed like long-handled underwear, and he'll probably wear them. Choose a very heavy waffle-knit cotton if you can find one. If he wanders around in underpants, make him a pair of pull-on silk or soft-cotton lounging shorts. If he wanders around stark naked, try a nightshirt. Make it of the softest loosely-woven all-cotton muslin you can find, unless you get a bargain on handkerchief linen. All-cotton seersucker also goes over well, if you can get a piece from one of the remaining mule-spinning mills in India. EOF
