Subject: I found a book I wrote
From: Joy Beeson
Date: 12/12/2023 7:48 PM "Glove Theory" is attached. It was written with a word processor which allowed any extension on a text file; "95" means it was first saved in this form in 1995.  If your Notepad can't read it, save-as to *.txt.  Many formatting commands from this word processor are non-ASCII, and appear as hollow rectangles when viewed with another program. The copy I found appears to be one that I printed out to take to a writing workshop.  It's far from finished, but I think I'll edit this message into an index page and post the book on my Web site. Mittsea1.95  Introduction: It Started on a Bicycle     The file starts with bunches of     construction notes.  The first paragraph     should be moved to the glossary.     Page to the bottom for the actual introduction. Mittsea2.95 is Section One:  Glove Theory      This file looks as though I started out     by writing down everything I knew,     and never got around to pruning and organizing. Mittsea5.95 is Section 4:  Hints and Kinks      Winding a Center-Pull Ball of Yarn:      Joining Yarns      Slipping stitches onto a string       Guesstimating yarn      How many sock needles?      Darning:      Washing:      Re-using yarn:      Blocking:      Stashing a mitten in a hurry      The four numbers of the frustum       Coned yarns       Knitting up with a crochet hook       Pointed Bind Off       && Unplying Persian Yarn       && short rows Mittsea6.95 is Appendix 1:  A few suitable fabrics.     Instructions for stranded knitting, welting,     and some others.  Some very simple patterns     are in the Glossary.
